6 years agoWith the 11th pick in the 2018 MLB Amateur draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected 18-year-old right-handed pitcher Grayson Rodriguez out of Central Heights High School as a senior. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, Rodriguez will most certainly be a long-term project for the Orioles. He holds scouting grades of a 65 fastball, 50 curveball, 55 slider, 50 changeup and 50 control, with his fastball topping out at 97-98 mph. The Orioles have arguably one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball and are ranked 28th in MiLB's Pitcher Farm System Rankings. Despite his commitment to Texas A&M next year, he will rank in the system amongst Orioles prospects such as DL Hall, Hunter Harvey and Tanner Scott, who all rank in the top 10. The Orioles are in desperate need of pitching and don't look to have good pitching anytime soon, so Rodriguez could be up on the team sooner than later if he takes big steps in his game.--Caden Inaba
