Greg Holland Nails Down Ninth Save In Tidy Effort
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks closer Greg Holland needed just six pitches to record two outs for a tidy ninth inning in Sunday's 6-2 road win against the San Francisco Giants for his ninth save. With a four-run lead, reliever Matt Andriese got into some trouble with just four strikes in 11 pitches, issuing a walk and a hit to create a spot of trouble. Holland came on and splashed cold water on the uprising, lowering his ERA to 1.53. After allowing a run in three straight outings from May 3-9, Holland is back into form with four straight scoreless appearances. He has a 1.53 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and he has converted nine of his 10 save chances with 24 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings.
