7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco went 2-for-6 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The long ball was his sixth of the season, putting him more than halfway toward his 2017 output of 11. His .213/.324/.483 slash line leaves something to be desired, but there are reasons to think better days are ahead for Polanco. His .220 batting average on balls in play will not stay nearly that low and his 36.9 percent hard-contact rate is currently a career-high.--Matt Wilkes
