Hansel Robles Blows Save Wednesday
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Hansel Robles blew a save Wednesday afternoon giving up two earned runs in one inning pitched. This is the second blown save his past three appearances. Robles has six saves on the season and averages a strikeout per inning which looks good on the surface but now his ERA is now 4.26 with an xFIP of 4.56. Manager Mike Scioscia has a history of keeping the closer role fluid and it's fair to wonder when he goes back to Ty Buttrey who has only given up two runs in 14 1/3 innings this month with a .200 batting average against. Robles is probably still the man for now but the situation is worth monitoring and both are worth owning in leagues where saves are scarce.
