5 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Heath Hembree blew a 12th-inning save chance before locking down a 6-5 win, in the 13th inning, over Toronto Wednesday. Following Mookie Betts' 12th-inning go-ahead home run, Hembree served up a two-out solo shot to Rowdy Tellez to tie it at five. The Sox were able to plate another in the top of the 13th to regain the lead, allowing Hembree to slam the door shut and earn the win, his first of the year. The 30-year-old struck out three in two innings, but obviously the blown save is a blemish for a reliever. Three of the four Boston relievers to appear in Wednesday's game surrendered one run, excluding Ryan Brasier who pitched a scoreless 11th. This is one of the most volatile bullpens in baseball, especially from a fantasy perspective, as no one has gained a grasp on the majority of save chances. It's best to stay away from this situation until something drastically changes.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
