Hector Neris Allows Two Runs In Sixth Inning
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits in the sixth inning of a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday. Neris was removed from the closer role last week and this performance isn't an encouraging sign for the right-hander. He's had a rough season with six blown saves already as his walk issues have resurfaced. Neris has a high 10.2 percent walk rate this season, not ideal for any reliever, let alone someone who had been pitching in high-leverage situations. Jose Alvarado seems to have the most trust from manager Joe Girardi at the moment and is the Philly reliever to roster in fantasy leagues that reward saves. Neris is best left on waivers.
