Hector Neris Back At Phillies Camp
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris (illness) was at Citizens Bank Ballpark Sunday but did not practice with the team, according to manager Joe Girardi. Neris was placed on the new COVID-19 Injured List last week, but it was never confirmed if he had the virus. Players can be put on the COVID-19 IL if they test positive or come into contact with an infected person. Neris could not return to the ballpark without passing several safety protocols so even though he is not practicing, this is a good sign the Phillies may have their closer in time for Opening Day. Neris accrued 28 saves last season with a sub-three ERA and a 32.4 percent strikeout rate so he'll be a popular RP option on draft day assuming he's healthy.
