Hector Neris Blows Save Thursday
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies closer Hector Neris was called on to protect a one-run lead in the top of the ninth but proceeded to allow three runs while being charged with a blown save. Over only 33 2/3 innings this season, Neris owns a 3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 34.1 percent strikeout rate with 16 saves. He's had a couple of blow ups but has been mainly solid earning seven saves in the past month which is among the top in the league in that span. He should continue to pitch in save situations. Luckily, the Phillies got a walk-off homer from Jean Segura to save the afternoon. Hang on to Neris as the Phillies should continue to get opportunities for him.
