Hector Neris Implodes In Eighth Vs Braves
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris allowed three earned runs and only recorded one out while pitching the eighth inning Saturday. After seven dazzling innings from Zack Wheeler, manager Joe Girardi turned to Neris in the eighth as the former closer was just 2-for-5 in save opportunities this season. Neris allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and was lifted for the newly-acquired Brandon Workman who would allow two of those inherited runners to score. Neris now sports a grotesque 11.12 ERA and appears to be behind Workman in the pecking order for saves in Philadelphia making him droppable in standard-size fantasy leagues.
