5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris didn't allow a baserunner in 1 1/3 innings pitched to pick up his 26th save of the season Thursday night against the Braves. Neris was called upon with two on and two out in the eighth inning in one of the more interesting double switches we've seen this year as it appeared manager Gabe Kapler was stalling to let Neris wait in the bullpen as long as possible. Once on the mound, however, Neris induced a line out to get out of the eighth-inning jam before pitching a clean ninth with two strikeouts to earn the save. Neris has a 2.84 ERA to go with those 26 saves and a 32.4 percent K-rate makes him an asset in strikeouts as well. Neris should be owned in all leagues where saves matter and has value in points leagues as well.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
