Hector Neris Slams Door On Marlins For 12th Save
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris pitched a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn his 12th save of the season Sunday versus the Marlins. Closer intrigue in Philly? Perhaps. Ranger Suarez had earned the previous three saves for the Phillies and, since he pitched each of the last two days, was likely unavailable for manager Joe Girardi today. However, Suarez did allow a home run yesterday. Girardi probably wouldn't yank the job from Suarez that quickly, but he has shown an affinity for Neris over the years. Ultimately, only Girardi knows who will get the next save opportunity, but fantasy managers should prioritize Suarez, with Neris next-in-line.
