Hector Neris Strikes Out Side, Earns Win
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies closer Hector Neris struck out the side in the top of the ninth before his team walked off with a win against the Nationals. Neris was dominant Sunday needing only 14 pitches to pick up three strikeouts and set up the walk-off win. Neris has had his rough outings this season, such as his blown save Saturday, but has been a stable closing option for the Phillies and fantasy owners alike. Neris has 17 saves on the season and is also contributing elsewhere with a 3.43 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. His 18 percent swinging strike rate is fifth among all qualified relievers and it's lead to 53 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings this season. Neris is must-own in any category-based format but also has appeal in points leagues as long as he remains the undisputed closer in Philadelphia.
