Homer Bailey Has Sunday Start Pushed Back, Twins Use Opener
4 years agoMinnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey will now start Monday against Pittsburgh, having been scratched Sunday versus Cleveland, allowing right-hander Tyler Clippard to serve as the opener. Manager Rocco Baldelli cited “recovery related” issues with Bailey as it pertained to starting Sunday. Having pitched extensively in the National League, Bailey has made 24 career starts against the Pirates, one of which was one of his two career no-hitters. With the Twins bullpen being tasked with covering the entirety of Sunday’s game, Bailey’s leash Monday may be a bit longer should his health allow. For season-long owners, the matchup against the Pirates offense is more appealing than facing an established Cleveland bunch.
