Howie Kendrick Re-Signs With Nationals
7 years agoUpdating a previous report, the Washington Nationals re-signed second baseman Howie Kendrick to a two-year, $7 million deal Monday, according to a source. The deal is pending a physical. Kendrick will return as a utility player for the Nats in 2018 after hitting .315/.368/.475 with nine home runs, 41 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 91 games between the Phillies and Nationals. The team could need Kendrick to serve as the starting second baseman to open the year if Daniel Murphy isn't ready. Kendrick is mainly useful for his average and high contact rates, but lack of consistent at-bats will mainly make him a target in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for depth and positional versatility.
