Hunter Brown To Debut Monday Against Rangers
2 years agoHouston Astros pitching prospect Hunter Brown will make his major league debut and start against the Texas Rangers on Monday. Brown, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land last Thursday when rosters expanded. The 24-year-old right-hander went 9-4 with a 2.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 134 strikeouts and 45 walks in 106 innings over 23 appearances (14 starts) at Sugar Land this year before his call-up. It's unclear if he'll stick in the starting rotation down the stretch, but he'll have to throw more strikes to be successful at the major league level. Brown has plenty of velocity on his fastball, but his most devastating offering is a power curveball that drops off the table.
