Hunter Greene On Track To Face Hitters Saturday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Sunday and is scheduled to throw another bullpen on Wednesday. Barring a setback, he's tentatively scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session on Saturday. "Felt good, my pitches felt good," Greene said. "Most importantly, my body felt good. It was just a good step forward." Manager David Bell said Greene will need one to three minor league rehab starts before he rejoins the Reds rotation. The 23-year-old could make as many as three more big-league starts in 2022. He was pitching well before his injury, posting a 2.70 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings in his previous four starts. In 20 starts in his rookie year, Greene is 4-12 with a 5.26 ERA, but he's shown flashes of dominance.
