Hunter Greene Undergoes MRI, Won't Need Surgery
2 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene (shoulder) underwent an MRI and is expected to avoid surgery, according to Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Although he won't need to go under the knife, there's still not timetable for Greene's return and it's unclear if he will pitch again in 2022. He's currently on the 15-day injured list and isn't expected to return as soon as he is eligible in two weeks. Greene is 4-12 with a 3.97 xFIP, 11.13 K/9, and 3.59 BB/9 through 20 games this season. He throws a triple-digits fastball but has surrendered home runs at a concerning rate of 2.02 per nine innings. His 27.9 GB% is also lower than ideal. Still, Greene is young and throws hard, making him worth rostering in most fantasy leagues upon his return.
