5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe is garnering trade interest, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. While speculation is nothing unordinary for the 27-year-old slugger, Renfroe’s value has arguably never been higher. Previously projected as a platoon player against left-handed pitching with subpar defense, Renfroe has emerged this season with 18 homers and an .879 OPS. He’s shown demonstrable success against all pitchers and improvement defensively. With four years of control remaining, the Padres asking price will likely be high considering his ascent in 2019. But with a plethora of young outfielders, it makes sense to extract top dollar for one of their assets.
