Hunter Renfroe Stays Hot In August
6 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe went 3-for-5 and cracked his 16th homer in Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The dinger marks Renfroe’s eighth in August to accompany a .300 average and 21 RBI for the month. Renfroe has quietly assembled a solid campaign despite limited action, slashing .253/.310/495 with 48 RBI in 319 plate appearances. While he still lacks ideal plate discipline, his 0.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio is a marked improvement from last season (0.19) and the power has remained durable. He should get regular playing time down the stretch for the Padres to evaluate his long-term future with the club and could make a low-cost power option for deep and NL-only leagues.
