Hunter Strickland Notches First Save On Wednesday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Strickland allowed one run on a hit and a walk while striking out across an inning to earn the save during Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. The 33-year-old entered Wednesday's contest in the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. He retired the first batter he faced but hit Patrick Wisdom and walked Alfonso Rivas to put runners on first and second base. The right-hander got Wilson Contreras to line out. Strickland surrendered an RBI single to Nico Hoerner before striking out Christopher Morel to end the game. It was Strickland's first save of the season. Fantasy managers searching for saves could add Strickland with him being the Reds' primary closer while Lucas Sims (back) is sidelined. Overall, Strickland owns a 5.60 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings in 2022.
