3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu labored in his start versus the Mariners on Thursday, allowing five runs over four innings of work in a 7-2 loss. Four of the runs he surrendered were earned as he allowed a pair of homers on seven hits and two walks while striking out a pair in the 85-pitch performance. Ryu entered the month of June with a 2.62 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, but he's fallen off dramatically since then with a 5.35 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over his last six starts. The lefty has also struck out just 16 batters in 35 1/3 IP in this span, which is concerning since he's always had durability concerns throughout his career. Ryu will have one more start against the Orioles next week before the All-Star break, so perhaps the veteran can reset himself with some time off.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
