Hyun-Jin Ryu Takes Loss Versus Orioles
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu fell to 12-8 on the season after his team fell to the Orioles 4-2 on Tuesday. The lefty carried a no-hitter after 5 2/3, but he subsequently allowed three hits and a walk before getting lifted after 95 pitches. He finished his night allowing three runs with six strikeouts and three walks to give him a 121/33 K/BB through 149 1/3 IP on the year. Ryu is having a sluggish second half after he posted a rough 6.51 ERA in August to push his season-long ERA to 3.92 as questions of durability are coming into play. Managers may want to keep the 34-year-old on the bench in his upcoming start versus the Yankees next week.
