4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ is out of the starting nine for Friday’s contest against the Cardinals and right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty just a day after a foul ball struck him near the eye, forcing him from the game. Happ should avoid a stint on the IL, with Cameron Maybin slotting into center field Friday. Ranking fourth in the Majors in OPS (1.068), Happ is a must-roster season-long commodity amid being moved up to the leadoff spot in the order. His next chance to return to the lineup comes Saturday versus St. Louis when the clubs play a doubleheader.--Jesse Borek
