3 years agoTexas Rangers reliever Ian Kennedy (hamstring) is back from the injured list. Rangers executive vice president of communications John Blake announced the roster move in a tweet on Wednesday. Fellow pitcher Hyeon-Jong Yang was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Signed to a minor league deal in the offseason, Kennedy has been excellent as the Rangers closer with 25 strikeouts compared to just seven walks in 21 1/3 innings. His ERA sits at a pristine 2.53 and his 3.02 FIP isn't far off either. Perhaps most importantly for fantasy managers, the right-hander has 12 saves in 21 appearances. Josh Sborz is the only other Texas reliever with a save this season, so Kennedy should step right back into closer duties. That being said, he might not be a closer for the club once the calendar turns to August. That's purely speculative, but with the Rangers anchored at the bottom of the American League West, Kennedy could be a prime trade chip this summer.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
