Isaiah McKenzie Has Taken A Step Forward
2 years agoBuffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie seems to have taken a step forward, and he has a big opportunity this year with veteran slot man Cole Beasley now gone. McKenzie is contending with Jamison Crowder for the starting slot job, and he has continued his improvement early in training camp. With Crowder out the last three practices with "general soreness," it has allowed McKenzie to maximize his repetitions with quarterback Josh Allen. McKenzie's route-running has taken a step up, as has his savvy to find soft spots in the defense. The 27-year-old has plenty of speed to spare, but his deceptiveness could allow him to take the next step. He'll need to continue to stand out when the pads go on this weekend, but if Crowder keeps missing practice and McKenzie keeps playing well, McKenzie could win the slot job rather quickly.
