Isiah Kiner-Falefa to Start at Short and Hit Second
7 years agoTexas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa will hit second in the lineup and play short in relief of Jurickson Profar and Elvis Andrus against the Tampa Bay Rays. The rookie will make his first career start at the 6, and his spot at the top of the order is more about lack of depth than skill or production. Kiner-Falefa is only hitting .118/.118/.294 on the season since being called up, with just two hits and a home run. He's yet to take a walk, has struck out on more than half of his at-bats and will be relegated to utility status the second that one of Texas' many injured middle infielders return to the lineup. He's not a useful fantasy contributor at this point, even in deeper leagues.
