6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle announced on Saturday that starting pitcher Ivan Nova is dealing with a sprained ligament in his right index finger. Nova's next start is currently slated for Tuesday against the Cubs, but that is now in doubt. The Pirates are likely to place Nova on the disabled list and recall Nick Kingham in a corresponding move soon to give Nova ample time to heal. Kingham has been impressive in his three starts this season, so the Pirates likely want to see more of what he can provide considering the current state of their starting rotation. Nova is not expected to be on the DL for an extended period of time, so this call-up may be temporary.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
