6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed three runs (two earned) and struck out four in six innings against the San Diego Padres on Friday, but was saddled with a tough-luck loss. The right-hander was coming off of three straight poor outings, so this was an encouraging start despite the disappointing result. It was also his first time not allowing a home run in four appearances. Still, he's a fairly volatile option for fantasy owners, as he doesn't have dominant stuff and relies on command over strikeouts. He'll hope to keep the positive momentum going in his next start against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.--Matt Wilkes
