6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher J.A. Happ had an advantageous matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, and while he pitched well, it wasn’t 100 percent the outing fantasy owners hoped for. Happ did throw five scoreless innings in a no-decision, allowing one hit, but only struck out four compared to three free passes. He wasn’t very economical in this one, needing 98 pitches to get through five innings. This marks the second consecutive game where Happ struck out four or less (it was three in his last start) after punching out a minimum of eight in three of his four starts prior to that stretch. Still, with a 3.48 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, not many are complaining. Happ has a more difficult matchup on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, but you’re starting him anyway.--John Smith
