7 years agoWhile this might not be the most exciting choice in the world, Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher J.A. Happ could get the nod for his squad on Opening Day. Aaron Sanchez, once thought to be the ace of the staff (and could be again if health cooperates), is recovering from an injury-plagued 2017, and Marcus Stroman’s recovery from shoulder inflammation this spring means he won’t be ready for Game 1. Happ dealt with some injuries in 2017 and did regress some, but still pitched to a 3.53 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. His 8.79 K/9 was his highest rate since 2012. He still has his fantasy uses on a good day.--John Smith
