J.D. Davis Continues His Hot Streak
4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and drove in four in the Mets 8-4 win over Miami on Saturday. Davis is now hitting .319 with three home runs and leading the Mets with 11 RBI in 47 at-bats on the season. Davis has a 12-game hitting streak going and is batting .366 over the current stretch. Davis broke out in 2019 in which he hit .307 with 22 home runs, scored 65 runs, and drove in 57 RBI. The Mets are giving Davis every opportunity to play and keep his hot bat in the lineup. Now that Yoenis Cespedes has opted out of the 2020 season, there is no reason to think Davis, who looks much better defensively at third base than Jeff McNeil, will suffer from a lack of playing time. Owners should confidently ride Davis while he remains hot and batting in the middle of the Mets lineup.
