4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday, retroactive to May 2, after suffering a hand sprain in Saturday's game. Davis sprained his hand on a swing he took in his final at-bat against the Phillies. Davis already spent time on the IL earlier this season due to a hand contusion, the result of getting hit by a pitch in a game against the Phillies during the first week of the season. This is unfortunate news for the Mets and fantasy managers, given the fact that Davis had been one of the hottest bats in the Mets' lineup. Over 41 at-bats this season Davis has posted a .390/.479/.610 slash line with two home runs and seven RBI. Hopefully, he spends the minimum amount of time on the IL and returns when first eligible. In Davis' absence, Jonathan Villar should see the bulk of the playing time at third base, with Luis Guillorme (oblique) also sidelined on the IL with a right oblique strain.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
