5 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder J.D. Davis is starting at third base and batting third in the Mets Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals on Sunday. The Mets are giving Davis playing time at third base in order to give him confidence at the position ahead of Opening Day. Third base flexibility for Davis during the season will enable the Mets to keep both Davis and Jeff McNeil in the lineup when McNeil spells Robinson Cano at second base. Although it is early in spring training, it appears the Mets are already working toward maximizing ways in which they can get Davis into the lineup regularly during the season. Already considered a breakout candidate heading into 2020, regular playing time for Davis during the season could mean the potential for 25-30 home runs in a potent offense, making him an excellent draft option at his current ADP of 173.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
