J.D. Davis Will Undergo Surgery Once Season Concludes
3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis (hand) will undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand once the season concludes. "I was being told it shouldn't take that long to heal, so I thought I could gut it out for the rest of the season, but after getting two injections and completing months of rehab, it just never got better," said Davis. The 28-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list on September 23 and had been limited to 73 games due to issues with his left hand in 2021. Davis slashed .285/.384/.436 with five home runs, 23 RBI, and 18 runs over 211 plate appearances this season. Jonathan Villar will continue to handle third base duties for the Mets during the season's final game on Sunday.
