J.D. Martinez Aggravates Groin Injury, Out Thursday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter J.D. Martinez (groin) aggravated his adductor injury while pulling into second base on Wednesday night and is out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays as a result. Manager Alex Cora is hoping Martinez can start at some point this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles, but the Red Sox are going to stay conservative with the slugger. The 34-year-old missed four straight games last week with the same injury, so this isn't what fantasy managers want to hear. With Martinez out Thursday, Travis Shaw is serving as the designated hitter and is batting eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Shaw is still searching for his first hit of the season through six games.
