J.D. Martinez Not Playing In Series Finale
3 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter J.D. Martinez (groin) remains out of the starting lineup for the series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Martinez left the game against the Toronto Blue Jays last Wednesday early with left groin tightness and hasn't played since. The 34-year-old slugger was reportedly available to pinch hit on Friday, but it's unclear when he'll return to the lineup. The Red Sox initially didn't believe that he'd need to go on the injured list. Martinez is a must-start anytime he's in the lineup for fantasy managers. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts is serving as the DH on Sunday against Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan, while Christian Arroyo is at shortstop and hitting seventh in the lineup.
