J.D. Martinez Not Starting Against Rays
2 years agoBoston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Martinez will start on the bench for the second straight day, but the Red Sox haven't given any indication yet that the 35-year-old slugger is dealing with an injury. Martinez is currently riding a four-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-17 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored. Outfielder Tommy Pham is serving as the designated hitter on Monday and is batting leadoff against Rays right-hander Luis Patino. Pham has looked much better since being traded to the Red Sox, going 34-for-123 (.276) with four home runs, 15 RBI and 21 runs scored in 29 games. He'll be a nice DFS target in the leadoff spot.
