6 years agoRed Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez (back) was scratched from Saturday's lineup with back spasms. There is no word yet out of Boston on the severity of the injury, but this is obviously not a good sign for fantasy owners who invested a first-round pick on the slugger. Martinez was off to a scorching hot start at the plate with a .340 average and a .526 slugging percentage through 26 games. Steve Pearce will DH Saturday and bat seventh for Boston against Charlie Morton and the Rays.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
