6 years agoSeattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford smacked his first homer of the year Thursday night off of Twins starter Michael Pineda. He finished the game going 1-for-4 and is batting .217 in his six games since his major league promotion. Crawford is eyed as the shortstop of the future for the M's as they might use regular shortstop Tim Beckham as trade bait in the coming months. Crawford should see his share of playing time as a slick defender, but his bat doesn't offer much in any format other than AL-only. His career .214/.325/.362 slash line in the majors is underwhelming although he was hitting .319 in Triple-A this season. Until we see more spark from the 24-year-old, he can be left alone.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
