J.T. Realmuto Considered Day-To-Day With Ankle Injury
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto rolled his ankle in his final at-bat on Sunday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Realmuto is considered day-to-day. One of the top catchers in the game, it wouldn't be surprising to see the All-Star get at least Monday off versus the Washington Nationals. Realmuto is having another good year behind the dish and is hitting .264 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI and eight stolen bases. Any significant timeframe for Realmuto would hurt managers in a big way, because there aren't many star catchers in general, but it looks like he should be fine moving forward. If Realmuto is sidelined on Monday, look for backup catcher Rafael Marchan to replace him in the lineup. Marchan is hitting a respectable .290 in his first 31 at-bats. The Phillies will face young hurler Josiah Gray on Monday and Gray has been throwing the ball well in his limited time at the big-league level. Marchan can remain on the waiver wire for now.
