3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (oblique) will make a rehab start on Tuesday at Triple-A Memphis, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Flaherty had tossed a successful bullpen session on Thursday, and now he's in line to face live batters for the first time since suffering an oblique injury in his last start on May 31. Goold adds that the team will limit Flaherty to about 40-45 pitches in the outing, as he makes another step towards his return to St. Louis. Flaherty was having a great year on the mound prior to the injury, going 8-1 with a 2.90 ERA, 1.032 WHIP and 26.3 percent strikeout rate over 62 innings of work. He's still probably a couple weeks away from a return, and managers should continue to monitor his situation.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
