Jack Flaherty Works Out Before Saturday's Game
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (shoulder) sprinted in the outfield prior to Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports. He is also building up his arm and shoulder strength before he begins a throwing program. Flaherty missed all of Spring Training and was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday before the season began. He is expected to be out until the beginning of May, but this news is a good sign. Last season he pitched to a 3.22 ERA while adding 85 strikeouts over 78.1 innings. Fantasy managers who drafted Flaherty should continue stashing him on the IL until he's healthy and hope that he can return to form. While the right-hander is out, Jordan Hicks will take his spot in the rotation.
