Jack Leiter To Start At Double-A
3 years agoTexas Rangers pitching prospect Jack Leiter will begin his professional career at Double-A Frisco this year. The second overall pick in last year's draft out of Vanderbilt, Leiter is already the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 21-year-old right-hander is the son of former MLB pitcher Al Leiter, and he had a whopping 134 strikeouts in 146 2/3 innings over 26 starts in his final season in college. Leiter should be a quick riser through Texas' farm system and could make his MLB debut as early as next year. His fastball is elite with riding life and vertical break, and his offspeed pitches aren't far behind. Once he's able to refine his command in the minors, Leiter has the makings of an MLB ace.
