Jack Mayfield Clobbers Seventh Home Run
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels third baseman Jack Mayfield hit his seventh home run of the season in Friday's 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He added a single, two RBI, and a walk on the day. Mayfield, who was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners, was recalled on July 6 to replace the injured Anthony Rendon at the hot corner. He has quietly put up decent numbers, slashing .229/.264/.476 with seven home runs and one stolen base in 39 games. Since the All-Star break, he's been on a tear, hitting .286 with a .683 slugging. There are concerns about his 0.2 BB/K, but he can provide enough offense for a deep waiver wire player if fantasy managers want to take a flier on him.
