6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was his dominant self yet again on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies, but yet again the Mets were the Mets and couldn’t get him the win. deGrom pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and a walk while striking out seven in the no-decision. The game was scoreless upon deGrom’s departure and remained as such until Brandon Nimmo sent the Queens faithful home happy with a pinch-hit three-run shot in the bottom of the tenth inning. For the year, deGrom now owns a 1.68 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 149 strikeouts against 30 walks in 123 1/3 innings pitched, with only five wins to show for his troubles. Although his name continues to be thrown around in trade chatter, the odds remain enormously likely that deGrom stays a Met.--John Smith
