Jacob deGrom Dominant On Opening Day
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was dominant over five innings in the Mets 1-0 win over the Braves on Opening Day. Over his five innings of work, deGrom allowed only a broken-bat single, one walk and struck out eight. As anticipated, deGrom was pulled after only five innings and 72 pitches following a back tightness issue that cropped up over a week ago. Despite the performance by deGrom, he did not factor into the decision. He has now thrown 28 straight scoreless innings dating back to 2019. deGrom will look to keep the streak alive when he faces the Red Sox next week at CitiField.
