Jacob DeGrom Effective In Debut
7 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom had an effective, albeit not an extended, outing in his 2018 debut. DeGrom threw five 2/3 innings, allowing only one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven in a 6-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. DeGrom found himself with a bit of a high pitch count early, leading to his removal one out shy of a quality start at 101 pitches. He’ll have a much tougher outing on Thursday when the Mets head to D.C. for the Washington Nationals’ home opener, but you didn’t draft deGrom to sit him in tough matchups.
