6 years agoOnce again, New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom pitched an absolute gem. Once again, the bullpen blew his shot at a victory. In the first game of a doubleheader on Monday in Atlanta against the Braves, deGrom allowed one earned run in seven innings pitched, surrendering five hits and three walks while striking out eight. He was in line for the victory before the lead was blown in the eighth inning for him yet again. deGrom now owns a miniscule 1.52 ERA and 1.01 WHIP on the season, firmly entrenching him in the early Cy Young conversations. He continues to show he is matchup-proof and should always be in your lineup when starting.--John Smith
