Jacob DeGrom May Not Be “Built Up Enough” For Opening Day
7 years agoAccording to New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway, starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (back) may not be “built up enough” for Opening Day. The comment is likely in regards to the lower back stiffness deGrom is currently dealing with. While that is potentially worrisome news, not too much should be read into it on Feb. 27. What Callaway said doesn’t necessarily imply deGrom wouldn’t start the second game of the season if that’s when he was scheduled to pitch. If deGrom needs to alter his routine because of the stiffness, which as of now, he’s not, that’s when we’ll start to consider this with a little more concern.
