Jacob DeGrom Stymies Nationals In D.C.
7 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob DeGrom didn’t start Thursday’s game against the Washington Nationals all that well, but he certainly rebounded strong. The first two batters of the game, outfielder Adam Eaton and third baseman Anthony Rendon, hit him hard and gave the Nats a 1-0 lead, but after that deGrom was mostly stellar. He got the quality start after pitching six innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five. He found himself in a bases-load, nobody-out jam in the fifth inning but escaped without any runs scoring. deGrom is next scheduled to pitch in a favorable matchup in Miami against the Marlins on Wednesday, but he may get pushed back to a home series against the Milwaukee Brewers with Saturday’s game in D.C. likely to be rained out.
